Marketing intern Kalina
In February, Kalina began her internship at Decos in the marketing department. After participating for just over 2 months, Kalina shares her preconceptions about an IT company, why she decided to intern at Decos, and her experience so far.

WHAT MADE YOU ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT DECOS?
I was contacted by recruiter Eveline via LinkedIn. I wasn't familiar with Decos, but after she told me more about it, I became enthusiastic. The fact that I didn't know much about IT made me want to take on the challenge. It's something completely outside my comfort zone, and that seemed like a great opportunity.
WHAT WERE YOUR PRECONCEPTIONS ABOUT AN IT COMPANY BEFORE YOUR INTERNSHIP?
To be completely honest, my initial feeling was that I would end up in a dull company with personalities different from mine. I expected a lot of technical colleagues who mainly work individually. However, none of those preconceptions turned out to be true. At Decos, everyone is very open and always up for socializing.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR INTERNSHIP AT DECOS?
As a marketing intern at Decos, I have a lot of freedom. I enjoy thinking creatively and coming up with new initiatives. New ideas are really listened to, and if everyone agrees, I can implement them too! The responsibility I am given is a great learning experience for me. It makes me feel truly involved with Decos because they genuinely expect a certain contribution from me.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST IMPORTANT LESSON AT DECOS SO FAR?
You shouldn't underestimate yourself! When I started at Decos and came up with an idea, I was very enthusiastic about it. However, the execution didn't go as smoothly as I hoped, and I thought I wouldn't succeed. In the end, I managed to pull it off, and everyone was very enthusiastic! The fact that Decos encourages you to 'give it a try, and then we'll see' ultimately shows me that I can do more than I expected.
WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS INTERNSHIP TO OTHER STUDENTS?
The level of involvement you have as an intern at the company is remarkable. You're given responsibility, you truly contribute, and your input is valued. It's a challenging internship, but in a rewarding way.
WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR THE NEXT MARKETING INTERN AT DECOS?
Make sure to actively engage with the team from day one. Ask questions, dare to take initiative, and come up with ideas. Always try to tackle challenges on your own first. If you find yourself stuck, everyone is there to support you!
